GMail Login Problems & Increase GMail Speed Fix
August 22, 2006
Sometimes, it can get really tough “logging into” GMail. Either the browser will stuck on an intermediate GMail login screen that says “Loading..” forever in a loop or the service simply says “Oops… the system was unable to perform your operation. Please try again in a few seconds.”

Infact, my previous versions of Firefox would sometimes crash when I tried to login to GMail though 1.5.0.6 is much stable in that sense.
So in the above situations, when GMail starts misbehaving and won’t let you check your important emails, try these simple hacks. They really work:
0. While the GMail Loading screen apears, press Ctrl+F5. Your Gmail inbox may load instantly without having to wait.
1. Clean your IE browser cache, temporary internet files and the cookies. This is very likely to solve your Gmail login woes but if you don’t like this method, move on to the next one.
2. Instead of typing www.gmail.com, try https://mail.google.com/mail (secure URL)
3. If your browser crashes just before opening the GMail Inbox, open gmail in standard HTML view by typing http://mail.google.com/mail/h/ – You can switch to the standard view once the Gmail screen loads.
4. If you hate all the bells & whistles and want to see a very simple view of the inbox without the Google ads, type in http://m.gmail.com [GMail Mobile version] – This may try to download a file in IE so better use Firefox or Opera.
5. Bypass the default browser check by typing http://mail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser – Use this when accessing Gmail on non-supported browsers.
6. When nothing helps, move to www.google.com/ig and add a GMail module there. That’s the fastest way to check your gmail inbox without waiting for GMail inbox to load.
If you still have trouble accessing GMail, contact gmail support. They ask you the error message like Account gets stuck on ‘Loading…’, Blank white screen, Oops..unable to reach Gmail, etc indicating they are common issues.
Speed Tips that make GMail faster
» Reduce the number of GMail conversations to 25 so the browser has to serve less amount of data.
» Set you GMail view to “Standard Without Chat” and use Google Talk to chat with your gmail friends.
» Gmail seems to work faster in IE for me than Firefox. Did anyone else notice this ?

I have had this problem for months. I have tried -everything- the problem is persistent on my connection, across three pcs (2 desktops and a laptop). I can load gmail anywhere but home (not fun). I’ve also tried reformatting and starting again. Even a pc with only XP and firefox (and all security disabled) will not connect. All the alternate addresses do is redirect to http://mail.google.com/mail/
Comodo firewall tracks an (allowed) TCP connection by firefox when i try http://www.gmail.com that only seems to allow a tiny bit of data to be sent (always 60b). It appears to be a secure server issue, or HTTP-Post issue. I can even preview the titles to the emails I have on an iGoogle tab (very frustrating). But when I try to load the message from the tab in a new (firefox) tab, it stalls as per normal. Clearing cookies and personal data makes the connection look a little more promising (it doesn’t obviously immediately die) but it almost never makes it (maybe 1 in 2000 – literally). It worked for about 30 seconds yesterday. I’ve spent many days on this over previous months. I’m going to change mail soon.

I’m more than frustrated with Gmail! I have had a blank page for a week + 4 days and I’m scratching and climbing the walls!! I need help! I am missing two paid for training classes on real estate investing! Now I am staying behind the other students in the training. I am so disappointed with gmail because they don’t even have a phone number for customer service for people like me(who aren’t computer saavy to call for help. I’m planning to change my e-mail address as soon as possible!! I haven’t been able to log in nor read my e-mail. My page is blank and sooo painfully frustrating for people who take their time seriously as it is our most valuable asset, especially if we’re not young anymore!! Heeeeeelp, please!!!!!!!!!! I cannot log into my Gmail account. I am using the right address and password but Gmail doesn’t recognize me. I have had this account for more than two years and this is the first time I have had this problem. I NEED HELP!!! Where is Google when you need them??? How do you get help with this problem?? They need to fix what they have instead of adding new features. What good are new features when you can’t log in!!

Hi all!
I have had problems with “buttons” and reading of mails at GMAIL (I use firefox and in OpenSuse 10.3). I could read the mail with Konquer but not with firefox (never loaded). After reading the info above I started to try different things.
- I noticed if I copied the link from the “button” or link and put that in the adres field of the browser it opened…
- After switching to plane html see note 3 and then copy the link to go to standard GMAIL and put that in the addres field of the browser it resultet in a working GMAIL. SO STRANGE
big thanx from tooby

If all cannot, just use the “basic HTML” like Gamil said,
http://mail.google.com/mail/h/
OR
Use this one(from google button)
http://mail.google.com/mail/?source=navclient

I have been having trouble with my gmail login as well. Every other website opens and with perfect speed, but everytime I enter a link to log onto any site –a google site or otherwise–, I get the page saying “This page cannot be displayed”. This has been going on for 5+ days.
Please help!

Get blank white screen and can’t use standard view. Please help!
If I use HTML I have to constantly look up e-address. Won’t let me e-mail attachments sometimes as well even if I use the latter format. Can’t figure out how to remedy this situation.

My computer had been down for over a week, and I just got it up and runing a few days ago, but since I got it up and runing again, the only way I can read my emails is in basic HTML viewing, I have tryed to switch it from HTML to Standard viewing and nothing works, I have try looking up help in the Gmail Help Center, but there isn’t any information there that is laymans term, that I could try, so now I am ready to scream, because I had games on my computer and saved important information that I can not bring up on my computer !
